Get Up Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing healthcare and advocacy to the underserved population in and around Austin, Texas.
In 2010, a small group of medical professionals arrived at a common destination; a place where their passions for good health and their love for people intersected with the basic and immediate needs of others. With open hearts and open eyes, they became aware of the healthcare needs within the growing community of resettled refugees, right in their own city of Austin. It was soon apparent that they were being presented with an opportunity to make a difference.
They began seeing patients one by one, often making old-fashioned "house calls." But as the needs continued to grow over the course of the following year, the vision and the passion grew as well. In early 2012, Get Up Project was formed to provide the organizational structure for what would become Hope Medical Clinic. With the formal launch of the clinic, patients from throughout the Austin area are now being seen, and in the past year, there have been more than 300 patient visits.
In the coming year, Get Up Project will continue to expand its offerings to a larger and more diverse community of patients, while also providing a broader range of crucial services, including Physical Therapy and Dental care.
